Pep has high praise for this midfielder, hopefully he can follow through on it – Report

Strap in folks, because apparently the best is yet to come.

One of the big signings that the Blues made in the summer was that of Ivan Sunjic. The Croatian midfielder came in with a lot of high praise from people in his homeland and a lot of excitement from the Birmingham City fans.

However, Blues manager Pep Clotet seems to think that the best is yet to come. Speaking to The Birmingham Mail, Clotet spoke about how much the Croatian has developed since moving to St Andrew’s and that there is a lot more to come out of him:

“Ivan is coping very well, he is a very focused player, very focused on the task and the job and I have the feeling that he has his own routines and own things that he has taken with him to sustain his performances. It took him very, very few games to get used to the Championship. Obviously he will have very good games and he will have bad games like everyone because we all have bad days. But at the end of the day what is your median performance? And I think Ivan has put in very good median performances and there is absolutely more to come.”

I said when we were first linked with him that he could be a signing that could send us ‘rocketing up the league’, and although we aren’t exactly challenging for promotion just yet, I feel that his inclusion has certainly helped Birmingham keep ticking along nicely. With a pass completion rate of 79% and averaging three tackles a game, he’s been vital in both getting attacks going and stopping attacks from the opposition. He’s even managed to add goals to his game after his recent strike against Derby County, so hopefully we get to see a lot more of them going forward.

What about you? Are you happy with how Sunjic has been playing since moving to B9? Or do you think that there is still a lot more to be added to his game?
