Out To Earn His Place

Cameron Jerome is adamant that Blues will do their best to stay top of the league and that also now he’s found the net that it will be the first of many for him personally.

He reiterated that Blues will do everything within their power to stay top of the league following the 2-0 win against QPR, which saw Jerome’s first goal for the club.

‘It remains to be seen whether we will, but we should aim to stay there definitely.

‘We have got into a little run now; we have got the knack of winning, which is a good habit. So let’s keep it going, that’s what we want to do.

‘The performances are not as great as we would like, they are there in flashes, but not throughout the whole game.

‘I know people might be frustrated at that but they’ve got to be patient, the boys are working at it.

‘Teams are making it difficult for us to play football. They are aggressive against us. Most games in this league are a battle and very physical.

‘And, to be fair, we are coping with it quite well, and trying to be better than that by playing our football.

‘We are learning to adapt, and I think it showed last night.

‘I would have taken a goal off my knee, just to score the first one.

‘It has taken the pressure off me now and I can just concentrate on trying to get in the team and score more.

‘It has been frustrating so far for me, definitely. I was suspended after getting sent off in our first game and I was injured so I couldn’t play last Saturday.

‘Hopefully I can go on from here and do more of the same.

‘Hopefully I will. Both the strikers (Bendtner and DJ Campbell) have been in good form and there’s Mikael Forssell wanting to play too so if I’m on the bench on Saturday’s it’s no problem.

‘I’ve just come back; I’ve got to earn a place.’
