Our Star Man; David Davis

Despite having one of the most ridiculous names in football and one which is the same as a previous Tory candidate, David Davis has given the Blues midfield a new lease of life.

Donaldson took all the plaudits at the end of year awards and to be fair, he thoroughly deserved the praise with the performances that he put in. But a true rival to Clayton’s player of the season crown was certainly the midfield maestro.

Last year, the bookies favourite for first yellow card was always Paul Robinson, but this year, Davis has certainly been a sure bet. This shows how he is willing to break down play and really get stuck in, something that we were missing in Lee Clark’s reign.

However, this attribute is the same as Gleeson’s, so why is Davis a better player? He can control his anger and pass the ball without looking elegant. Let’s just say, he wouldn’t make a good ballet dancer, but he certainly makes a good footballer.

The rugged qualities he possesses shows grit and every fan seems to warm to a player who wears his heart on his sleeve and who will not fear anyone! This optimizes David Davis!

Some fans also questioned whether he could replace Tom Adeyemi. I was unsure myself as Tom had been influential at the club and was appearing to blossom in the central role. But despite the lack of early confidence, the young man soon became a fan favourite and this constant upbeat attitude he has will certainly make him a popular character amongst everyone associated with the Blues.
