Gary Gardner is definitely doing his best to win over any fans with lingering doubts about his loan move from Aston Villa.
Against Forest, he was one of the best players on the park, linking up neat and tidily. He’s not pulling up any trees but he has put in some consistent performances.
Supporters on Twitter were keen to praise the 26-year-old:
Saying it again. Gary Gardner is our best addition of the window. #bcfc

Just back from Forest and watching the game on tv. Mags cross was good and Jukes header was class. Also, loved Gary Gardner celebrating like a madman with the fans. Just shows we have a togetherness between the players #BCFC

Legit can’t praise Gary Gardner enough for coming into the team and playing his socks off despite the abuse from the the people over the expressway. Got his head down and playing well. Fair play to the lad. #BCFC #KRO

Two fans debated whether he is now a Blue despite still being a Villa player:
Got to say Gary Gardner is 5 times the player Craig is! If only he was a blues fan ????????♂️ #bcfc #kro

I especially liked Gary’s freekick in the first half. It was a high-class strike, and it was so close to being in. With Kieftenbeld and him in the middle, we do look a lot more solid and assured.
I don’t think it would have been the pairing that Monk would have had in mind earlier in the summer but with the circumstances surrounding FFP, it’s probably the best we can hope for until the transfer restrictions are lifted.
