Doncaster Rovers` boss Dean Saunders was bemoaning the fixture list ahead of this game with Birmingham City and the longer the game went on, you could see why.

It started well enough for the home side, who took the lead through Frederic Piquionne.

But once Blues got themselves level just a few minutes later, there was only going to be one winner and further goals from Chris Burke and Marlon King proved that leaving Donny with just one win in 15 games.
And that is relegation form in anybody`s book.

‘I thought we played really well again,’ Saunders said to reporters.

‘The first 20 minutes we kept the ball and scored a great goal. But they are a really good team.

‘The schedule we have had this week has been ridiculous.

‘We went to Southampton last week and that was five-and-a-half hours back, then to Crystal Palace in midweek.

‘That was four-and-a-half hours back and we got back at 3.30 on Wednesday morning.

‘We got them in Thursday but they couldn’t do much and tonight they have had to go out against a Premier League team in effect and play like it was a cup final.

‘Once they got the second goal we didn’t have anything to give.’
