Luke Turner talks about the upcoming fixture against Charlton tomorrow…

Gary Rowett takes his side to The Valley tomorrow to face a Charlton team deep in trouble, in the relegation zone and six points from safety.

They will be determined more than ever to get a victory that could potentially cut that deficit to just three points.

But, Blues are on their own mission and need to make up the points if they are to have any chance of pipping Sheffield Wednesday to that last play off spot.

The Addicks usually play a 4-4-2 formation which could play straight into our hands due to our counter attacking ability or it could cause plenty of problems.

If they play a big target man up there like Simon Makienok then their style could become quite direct and we could see numerous balls pumped up to him.

They also have the perfect wingman who can supply the balls into the box, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, who has an impressive 10 assists to his name this season.

They may rely on him a lot as their outlet so Jonathan Grounds will have to stand up to the task and support from his winger in front of him would be appreciated.

However, they also have players in midfield who can dictate play and create opportunities. Jordan Cousins is a perfect example of this and he is in contention to play some part in the game after missing the last one through injury.

Due to Charlton`s tactics, I expect the game to be fairly open and Blues should be able to create chances in front of goal.

Jose Riga`s side have conceded more goals than any other team in the Championship this season so there should be no holding back from Blues on the attack.

We need a win from this game and hopefully Kyle Lafferty will be fit to potentially play some part in the fixture as his predator instincts could grab us a goal or two.

I am hoping that Rowett will go back to his 4-2-3-1 formation as we need to be a lot less cautious as we approach the end of the season.

We don’t want to look back and think what could’ve been. We are in with a shout of a play off place and should waste no time in picking up the points that can cut that six point gap.

This means that we have to express ourselves, attack the Charlton defence and punish them in front of goal.

Of course, the defence needs to be solid but it is goals that win you games and surely tomorrow will be the day that we score an away goal for the first time since mid January.
