Luke Turner discusses potential things to look for tonight…

Blues travel to Ewood Park to face Paul Lambert`s Blackburn Rovers this evening looking to get a win which could potentially lift them into the play off places.

Blackburn currently sit in a disappointing 17th position but they will, by no means, be push overs.

They are a strong, physical side who will cause Blues problems in many different ways. So the team must be prepared and be up for the battle.

The physicality in their game starts right from the back with Grant Hanley and Shane Duffy who will no doubt relish a tussle against the tireless Clayton Donaldson.

The pair could also have a part to play in set pieces at both ends of the pitch. They will be useful in defending for their own side and then become a threat to us when coming forward for a corner or free kick.

With the recent acquisition of Jordi Gomez, they have a player on their hands with Premier League quality who will deliver pin point crosses for the big men in the middle.

Gomez will definitely be one to watch for Blues as he has already made an impact at Rovers, scoring three goals in his seven appearances so far.

Lambert also brought in striker Danny Graham who is also in good form, scoring two in his last five appearances.

His movement and ability to bring others into play will need to be recognised by Blues as together, he and Gomez, could win the game on their own.

From our point of view, I expect Rowett to keep the same team that beat Hull which will mean another starting position for Jon Toral.

He could be crucial for us, in a tight game, to produce a moment of magic to win us the game. Whether that be a pass to unlock their defence or a superb strike of his own, he certainly has the ability to do so.

Rovers are likely frustrate Blues at times which could lead to panic so I expect the leaders in our team, Morrison and Robinson, to encourage and order others about.

It is important to continue the momentum at this stage of the season as one slip up could be costly.

Our away form has dipped in the last few months so getting that back on track is also something Rowett will be looking to sort out.

It is now time for our big players to turn up and, on our day, we have lots of them. Maghoma, Kieftenbeld, Cotterill, Toral, Donaldson and co, go and do the business!
