We’ve got to the point now where the start of the Championship season is less than two weeks away and Blues fans are getting slightly concerned that Harry Redknapp hasn’t added to his three summer acquisitions.

With all the links to various players we’ve had and the fact that Redknapp has himself expressed his desire to sign up to six more players, we all would`ve expected at least one or two extra bodies by this stage.

There’s no doubt that Blues are getting extremely frustrated in this transfer window. With there still being well over a month left of the window, there’s no need to panic.

However, we may now be at the point where Redknapp might just have to take his negotiating skills up a notch and really make his mark in this window.

The one I’d begin with is Jordan Hugill. Blues are clearly very interested in the Preston striker and have already reportedly had a bid rejected not so long ago.

Now, at first, I wasn’t convinced that Hugill was the man Blues need. But after more thought, I think he could be the perfect strike partner for Che Adams.

He might not be the man to get 20+ goals over the course of the season, but a strike force of him and Adams would give Blues the sort of return that would make up for not having an out-and-out goalscorer.

It’s going to be extremely hard for Redknapp to find the perfect striker who can guarantee you that high goal return and to get Hugill in before the start of the season would really give us a boost.

If you add into the mix Lukas Jutkiewicz and potentially Clayton Donaldson (if he stays), Blues would have three or four strikers that would all hope to contribute at least 10 goals over the course of the season.

While some clubs may be spending £10m+ on a 25 goal per season striker, Blues would have a different mix that may be more realistic to our spending power and, indeed, Redknapp`s style of play.

The ultimate aim for any club is that natural goalscorer but they’re few and far between.

More opportunities may open for Redknapp closer to the end of the transfer window but, for now, upping the interest in Hugill and luring the player to St. Andrew`s would stand us in good stead ahead of the first game away at Ipswich.
