Last week Birmingham City saw their opening double offer for Bristol City duo Aden Flint and Joe Bryan rejected.

It is believed that the offer that was turned down was in the region of £4 million for the pair.

Following some heated words in the press between Harry Redknapp and Lee Johnson, manager of the Robins, it is yet unknown whether Blues will go back in with a bid for either of the two defenders.

However, the chairman of Bristol City has now come out and said that they would be willing to accept an offer of £10 million for Flint, a figure that Johnson doesn’t believe Blues will match.

I totally agree with Johnson, I don’t think Blues will go ahead and match that price because Redknapp has openly stated that the club won’t go above what they believe is the correct value of a player and in this case I think Bristol City are being slightly over ambitious with their valuation of Flint.

With that in mind, I believe Blues should now fully focus their attentions of Flint’s fellow defender, Bryan.

It was reported yesterday in the national media that Leeds United and Fulham had entered the race for the 23-year-old left-back, with United believed to be readying a £2 million offer for him.

Personally, I feel as though if that is all the Robins are asking for them Blues should be looking to match that asking price immediately.

Don’t get me wrong, I will defend Jonathan Grounds until the cows come home because I think he is a good defender, but I also believe that Bryan could be the man to knock him off his perch.

£2 million in the market today is like a bag of peanuts and if Blues aren’t willing to spend that much on Bryan then you have to seriously question the motives of the owners of the club.

It is quite clear that Blues boss Redknapp sees Cheick Keita as a winger rather than a defender so bringing Bryan in seems like the right thing to do. Now let’s hope the board can make it happen.

Blues fans, do you think the club should forget about Aden Flint and focus on making a move for his fellow defensive partner Joe Bryan? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
