Birmingham City get their Championship campaign underway on Saturday against Reading at St.Andrews and I believe there are three players who are set to have big seasons in Blues shirts.

The first player who I think is set for a huge season is Demarai Gray. The young winger has the world at his feet. He is quick, he has skill and over the course of the off season, he has also added finishing and power to his game.

Last season the England under 21 international looked lean and unfinished in certain areas. At times, he also looked as though he was lacking confidence to go past his defender.

However, he now looks as though he wants to beat a player with his pace, power and trickery. Having only scored six goals all season last year, Gray will be wanting to get into double figures for the Blues this year and I believe he will.

The 19 year old already has two goals in preseason and I just have a feeling that there will be a lot more to come in the upcoming Football League campaign.

Secondly, another player who I think is set for a big season in a Blues shirt is Michael Morrison.

The former Charlton Athletic defender looks as though he is set for the captaincy this season which is a massive deal. Since coming in he has been the spearhead in the Blues back line and it now looks like he is set to be rewarded for his leadership on and off the pitch.

As well as possibly gaining the captaincy, I believe this is the year where Morrison stamps his name on the Championship. In my opinion, I believe he has the potential to be one of the best defenders in the league but if this does happen, will Blues be able to stop him from leaving? I should hope so with the resolve they have shown with other players.

If the Englishman continues with his fine form from last season, I believe he will have a great year in the royal blue and white shirt.

The final player who I believe will have a big season in a Birmingham City shirt is Stephen Gleeson.

This one may come as a shock to some fans but I am seeing real potential with Gleeson at the moment. Against Leicester City, even though he gave the ball away a few times, he looked stronger and more determined in the centre of the park and that is something he was lacking last season.

With the addition of Maikel Kieftenbeld, I believe he will flourish this season because he will be able to make the role his own.

However, should he excel with Kieftenbeld in midfield, it makes me wonder what will happen to David Davis. Despite Davis being a perfectly good back up, I think this will only spur Gleeson on even more.

Blues fans, what do you make of my predictions? Do you think I have selected the correct three players? Which other players do you think are set for big seasons in a Blues shirt? Let us know in the comment section down below!
