As the season begins to draw to a close, Birmingham City are still very much in danger of exiting the Sky Bet Championship with the relegation trap door still wide open.

Blues are just two points above Blackburn Rovers who currently occupy the last relegation spot and with a home game against Huddersfield Town and an away trip to Bristol City still to come, all the club needs to do is better or equal the results of Rovers to stay in the division.

Harry Redknapp will have his first taste of sitting in the home dugout this weekend in front of a sell out crowd and should Blues win and maintain their Championship status, I have no doubts that the club will start to look at players they want to sign this summer.

With that in mind, I have identified three freebies that I think would do the business for Blues in the Championship next season…

1. Marley Watkins

The 26-year-old has been superb for Barnsley this season and even though they are likely to try and extend his deal with the club, Blues still have the chance to step in before he signs a new deal.

Blues have been missing that goal scoring midfielder this year and with his ten goals in 43 games, Watkins could be the missing link in our team.

And at still a fairly young age, should Redknapp stay on at Blues next season, he will be able to mould Watkins into an all-round midfielder.

2. Yoan Gouffrann

At 30, you are probably thinking that Gouffrann is past it now but with Newcastle United heading back up into the Premier League, they are now likely to splash even more cash which could see Gouffrann pushed out and let go.

Should he be released at the end of his contract this year then I think he would make an excellent addition to the current group of players that we have at the club.

In 44 games this season, the Frenchman has scored seven goals which I know doesn’t sound too impressive but I feel as though given the right amount of game time then I think he could be more prolific.

3. Jack Price

Price, or Pricey as he is known by those at Wolverhampton Wanderers, has been in and out of their side this season which could indicate that manager Paul Lambert won’t be renewing his contract at the end of the season.

If that is the case, I think that his technical ability in the middle of the park could be something that helps Blues next season.

As a free, I believe that Price would be a fantastic addition to the Blues squad and at 24-years-old, he still has a very long playing career ahead of him.

Out of the three that I have picked out, I think that Price could be one of the better freebies that could potentially be in the market this summer and should Blues make a move for him, I believe that he could complete our midfield.

Blues fans, of the three freebies that have been suggested, which one would you like to see the club make a move for this summer? Let us know in the comment section down below!
