Yet again, this deal could turn out to be a fantastic piece of business by Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett! Who would have thought it, Blues paying out money for the third transfer window in a row.

It was announced earlier today by the Birmingham Mail online that a deal to bring Ryan Shotton back to Blues was in place and the deal could go through at any minute. It is believed that everything is in place and that the finer details were just being sorted out before it is all announced. Wahey!!

Blues fans have been waiting patiently for this deal to materialise, just like they were with the Robert Tesche deal, and now it looks like things are finally picking up and I have to say, what a fantastic piece of business the move could turn out to be.

When the former Stoke City defender came into the Blues camp, I have to admit, I was slightly cautious about his arrival having been given some information about his attitude whilst he was with Derby and after playing poorly at right back for three games I thought the move could have been as poor as the deal which saw Lloyd Dyer come into the club last season.

However, when Rowett moved Shotton to centre back, it all became clear! The lad does have potential and if we can bring him in at the end of the season it would be great because it would mean that we would have two solid central defenders who know how to do their jobs properly!

Although the size of the fee hasn’t been revealed yet, I believe it might be around £500,000, and if that is the case, I think we will have got ourselves an absolute bargain.

At the end of the season, both parties, Blues and Shotton, made no secret of their desire to be reunited and now it looks like both will get their wish and hopefully the drinks will be on Shotton who owns part of a pub back in his hometown.

Personally, I feel like this transfer could be up there with one of our most positive moves in the past few windows and if Shotton continues on his fine run of form that he was on towards the end of last season, who knows how good a player he might turn out to be for the club.

Blues fans, do you agree that Ryan Shotton coming back into the club is another fantastic piece of business by Gary Rowett? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
