Earlier this afternoon, the Birmingham Mail revealed that Birmingham City and manager Harry Redknapp had rejected a £10 million bid for star striker Che Adams on deadline day.

In what was a frantic day for Blues, it has only just come to light that Adams was the subject of a huge bid from an unnamed club.

Redknapp admitted that the club who bid for him weren’t to be named or talked about but he did insist that the stance on the bid means that Blues are no longer a selling club.

As much as it is good to see our players attracting the interest of some clubs, whether they are unnamed or not, having the grit to turn down a bid of that size shows just how determined Redknapp is to steer the club in the right direction.

Okay, the results so far this term haven’t been fantastic but the performance that was put in against Leeds United on Tuesday night was arguably the best we have seen from Blues this season and hopefully there will be more of that to come.

Blues agreed to sell/loan some of their players during the summer transfer window but those were players that were deemed surplus requirements to the club and it was time for them to move on, we can all accept that.

However, selling Adams would have been a huge mistake and a mistake we may have made in previous windows because we would have needed to have taken the money.

Well with Redknapp in charge and with the club going in a different direction, it is now refreshing to see the club standing firm on transfer situations like this one.

Blues fans can rest easy now knowing that Adams has signed a new five-year contract that keeps him at the club until 2022.
