After completing the signing of Cheikh N`Doye earlier today, it’s clear to see how Harry Redknapp is going about his business in his first transfer window at Birmingham City.

The additions of David Stockdale, Marc Roberts and now N`Doye give Blues an extremely solid spine of players.

All of which are the perfect type of player for the Championship. All with experience and all with leadership mentality.

Roberts and N`Doye were captains at their previous clubs and Redknapp has now built the base of his Blues side.

The next step is to bring the attacking flair and goalscoring prowess into the team which I am sure Redknapp is saving the big bucks for.

But to bring N`Doye in on a free transfer looks to be a wise piece of business. Despite not many of us knowing the 31-year-old, it’s become evident that he’s a player that bases his game on strength and power.

He’s capable in boxes at both ends and looks the perfect fit for the Championship. There won’t be many capable of knocking him off the ball and I’m expecting him to be a real force in the Blues midfield.

It wasn’t long ago that he was being linked with moves to the Premier League and I`ve seen people suggest that a move to England`s top flight wouldn’t have been a surprise.

N`Doye is the sort of player Blues have lacked in recent years and now we’ve got him, I’d suspect that others may go out of the St. Andrew`s door.

Stephen Gleeson and Robert Tesche would be the obvious ones but you can’t help but feel Blues could still do with someone who can control that midfield with composure on the ball.

Gleeson and Tesche are the best in the squad at doing this but if Blues want to mount a promotion push, then Redknapp will know that extra quality on the ball is needed.

Extra bodies will no doubt arrive in the coming weeks but there’s one thing that’s certain- Redknapp has recruited sensibly and there’s still plenty of excitement to come for Blues fans with the attacking areas the next place to strengthen.
