Birmingham City travel to the Stadium of Light this weekend to take on a Sunderland team who will be buoyant heading into the game having won their previous home fixture against Fulham, a victory that was their first at home in 364 days.

The win came courtesy of a Josh Maja goal in the 77th minute securing the Black Cats seventh point out of a possible last 12, meaning they moved out of the relegation zone, leaving Blues bottom of the table.

Blues on the other hand are looking to break their away duck this weekend. Steve Cotterill’s side are yet to win on the road this season and he will be hoping his team can pull together to pick up something in the North East that could save his job as pressure grows on him from the powers above.

Cotterill has confirmed that David Davis will have a late fitness test after he picked up a knock last weekend in the defeat to Queens Park Rangers and Che Adams, Carl Jenkinson, Marc Roberts and Isaac Vassell all remain out injured.

Down below is the side that I think Cotterill will name along with the seven substitutes…

GK: Stockdale
RB: Colin
CB: Morrison
CB: Dean
LB: Grounds
CDM: Gardner
CM: Kieftenbeld
CM: Ndoye
RW: Jota
ST: Gallagher
LW: Boga

Substitutes: Trueman, Nsue, Bramall, Dacres-Cogley, Gleeson, Maghoma, Jutkiewicz.

Blues fans, what do you make of the team that has been predicted? Is it one that you think can pick some points up against Sunderland? Let us know in the comment section down below!

  • BS. Urge you to read Mr.King part 3. Draw your own conclusions of course, but imo,League One would be a very minor issue if as what I expect will hit us early new year.

  • Will this mean that the club will be owned by someone else by July…Ohio , with blues loaning out young players and letting COTTS go for nothing .I can’t see a fire sale in the new year …i think Dan the man will be needed again …

  • David.Firstly,I think tomorrow’s game will herald the end of both Cotterill and more important the desire for our owners to continue their crusade etc.Winning would perhaps make a delay in final decisions but overall the current prospect of their club not even fancied to win a game whichever division they play, must be alarming to them. This week’s disclosure of the massive financial outlay and the prospect of football oblivion for the foreseeable future, can only point to an early offload of the club.Whats it worth is anybody’s guess. What is clear is that we will get no clarity from them and I for one, will be punting for Daniel Ivery to step up regardless of his admission that he doesn’t see many games.

  • On the playing side, why have we not tried Storer even on the bench or VSO who was supposed to be the next best thing etc. All I can surmise is that they are pretty dire. All we hear is ‘they are the future’ ,but never really blooded.Similar in a way to Redmond, who rarely got regular starts.Chris Coleman blooded young players in and look draw at Wolves and victory against Fulham.Lessons maybe to be learned.

  • Your right -ohio , and I can’t see any good reason to send a promising young star to arguably a lesser coaching staff to finish off his technical ability ..and there must be something wrong with striker coaching with so many forwards coming to blues and getting worse as time passes …

  • So our owners have released statement that they have every confidence in our manager.Must admit I didn’t think they would throw in the towel just yet.Reality is that no new manager will be appointed even if we lose the next 2/3/4 games. Their money and ambitions are gone.

  • Ohio. I would’nt believe anything TTA say. Do you remember this tweet by Xuandong Ren on September 14th ?It?s easy to believe in people when they’re succeeding. But that’s not what we’re about. We have to believe in each other when we fail?. And we all know what happened a few days later.

  • They played at the top of their game today and nobody can knock them. It is when you see Bolton beating Cardiff and Burton winning at Reading do you realise how true our league position is.
