Birmingham City return to league action this weekend following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth on the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

An early goal from Maikel Kieftenbeld wasn’t enough to see Blues progress to the third round of the cup with a second half comeback from the Cherries seeing them through.

And with more injuries picked up during that game, manager Harry Redknapp will once again make changes to the side.

Che Adams, Isaac Vassell and Clayton Donaldson have all been ruled out of the game by the 70-year-old and it looks like new loanee Carl Jenkinson could also miss out through lack of match fitness.

Down below is the team that I think could start for Blues when Reading visit on Saturday afternoon…

GK: Stockdale

RWB: Nsue
CB: Morrison
CB: Roberts
CB: Grounds
LWB: Bramall

CDM: Ndoye
CM: Gardner
CM: Kieftenbeld
CAM: Maghoma

ST: Gallagher

Substitutes: Kuszczak, Harding, Shotton, Gleeson, Cotterill, Davis, Jutkiewicz.

Blues fans, what do you make of the team that has been predicted for this weekend’s game against Reading? Let us know in the comment section down below!

  • It hasn’t taken long for Donaldson to be ruled out.Every season the same.Pity Vassell is sidelined also and Jenkinson out just about sums up what we are. Your suggested line up suggests a back to the wall with a Reading win the most likely outcome. My team would be Gallagher and Maghoma on the wings with Jukey up front. Flat back four with Brammall on the bench. Go for broke with relentless attack. Cotterill to step in should wing play disappoints in the second half.

  • Nsue went off injured versus Bournemouth. Bramall went off with a tight hammy. Vassell also hamstring. Jutkiewicz touch and go late fitness on ankle injury. Team GK: Stockdale, D: Morrison, D: Roberts, D: Shotton, RWB: Harding, LWB: Grounds, M: Ndoye, M: Gardner, M: Davis, AMC: Maghoma, ST: Gallagher

  • If Brammel is fit he has to start, he was the only one looking to get a ball into the box or wanting to take on a man. If he plays he needs someone who could keep up with him therefore I would throw Gallagher straight in. Juke is too predictable and Maghoma isn’t clever enough to play off him like Che is so starting Juke with Mags behind is pointless. Might aswell just go for it, Gallagher is well aware of this league so no point starting him on the bench.
