On Tuesday night, Birmingham City played out a comfortable 3-1 win against National League side Solihull Moors in their opening preseason fixture on English soil.

Goals from Clayton Donaldson (2) and Diego Fabbrini gave Blues the lead before an unnamed trallist scored for the home side after the break.

In the game, Blues boss Gary Rowett fielded two different sides in either half and as I understand it, he will do the same against against Forest Green Rovers this weekend, in a match which has been categorised by the club as an all ticket fixture.

With two completely different 11’s being fielded in either 45, it is always difficult to predict who is going to play in which half and how Rowett will play it, but down below are the two teams that I would put out against Rovers on Saturday.

FIRST HALF:

GK: Legzdins
RB: Caddis
CB: Shotton
CB: Robinson
LB: Tiendalli
CM: Adams
CM: Tesche
CM: Gleeson
RW: Vaughan
ST: Brock-Madsen
LW: Solomon-Otabor

SECOND HALF:

GK: Kuszczak
RB: Cogley
CB: Spector
CB: Morrison
LB: Grounds
CDM: Davis
CDM: Kieftenbeld
RAM: Fabbrini
CAM: Shinnie
LAM: Maghoma
ST: Donaldson

Out of the two sides, I have to say, the second half team is a lot stronger in my eyes than the first one, but as you can see, I have opted to go with two different formations.

In the first half, I have gone for a 4-3-3 formation where Robert Tesche, Charlee Adams and Stephen Gleeson will form a flat midfield three, whilst James Vaughan and Viv Solomon-Otabor will be providing crosses for Nicolai Brock-Madsen who I have pushed into the middle following his spell on the right on Tuesday night.

The second half sees a change of formation, reverting back to something Blues fans are more comfortable with. However, the midfield partnership is something that we haven’t seen much of so it would be interesting to see how that one works, as well as watching how Fabbrini works out wide.

Blues fans, which of the two sides do you think is strongest? Let us know in the comment section down below!
