Birmingham City made the short journey across the Midlands on Sunday in search of their first away win since the 16th of January but they were held to a 0-0 draw by local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In a first half where very little was created, the home side probably edged the chances with Nathan Byrne looking dangerous for the hosts.

However, as the game ticked over into the second half, travelling side Birmingham should have claimed all three points with glorious chances falling their way towards the end of the game.

Following the introduction of Jacques Maghoma half way through the second 45, Blues began to press their rivals and were almost rewarded for their efforts but Clayton Donaldson couldn’t finish from a one-on-one situation after a lovely ball by Arsenal loanee Jon Toral.

Next up to try their luck was the assistant to Donaldson’s chance, Toral. The ball fell to the 21-year-old eight yards out by his guided effort just squeezed past the post.

The final major chance that came Blues’ way fell to former Wolves player David Davis. After some good work on the edge of the box, the midfielder drove into the area and his rising effort was tipped over by Carl Ikeme in the Wolves goal.

Gary Rowett’s side felt they should have had two penalties in the second half when Donaldson was allegedly brought down twice in the box but the officials were having none of it and play went on.

Down below are the ratings that I would give for each player that was involved in the stalemate at the weekend…

Kuszczak: 6

Caddis: 7

Spector: 6

Morrison: 5

Grounds: 6

Davis: 8 and my Man of the Match.

Gleeson: 6

Kieftenbeld: 5

Cotterill: 6

Donaldson: 7

Toral: 6

Substitutes: Maghoma (7)
