Birmingham City picked up another valuable point on the road on Tuesday night, but it could and probably should have been three.

Gary Rowett’s side slipped further away from the last play-off spot as both Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town won their games.

The Blues were left to rue good opportunities in the game and even after the home side went down to 10 men, David Vaughan the receiver of the red card, the honours were shared.

Jon Toral netted his fifth goal of the season in the 24th minute with a glorious header from an equally superb Paul Caddis cross but the visitors lead lasted just six minutes.

Vaughan, who was shown the red card 15 minutes before the end of the game for a dangerously high foot on Clayton Donaldson, whipped a sumptuous ball into the box and defender Matt Mills also grabbed his fifth goal of the season.

After the game we asked our writer Luke Turner to give us his player ratings along with his Man of the Match.

Down below are the ratings that he gave for the initial starting XI as well as the two substitutes that were introduced towards the closing stages of the game.

Kuszczak – 6

Caddis – 7

Morrison – 6

Robinson – 8 and his Man of the Match.

Grounds – 6

Gleeson – 7

Kieftenbeld – 7

Davis – 7

Toral – 7

Maghoma – 7

Donaldson – 7

Substitutes: Vaughan (5), Solomon-Otabor (4).
