For the second time in a week, Birmingham City lost 2-1 at St.Andrews, this time round against Leeds United thanks to a goal either side of the half time break from stand out performer Stuart Dallas.

In a lacklustre first half from the home side, the visitors dominated possession and were ahead after just 12 minutes. Mirco Antenucci found an unmarked Dallas on the edge of the area and the 24-year-old turned and fired into the bottom left corner.

Blues started the second half a little bit brighter but their early efforts were soon stamped out when Dallas produced yet another moment of brilliance.

A long punt up field found the head of former Blues loanee Chris Wood and Dallas took one touch to control the ball and then fired a volley over the head of a stranded Adam Legzdins in goal to make in 2-0 to United.

Just moments later though and Gary Rowett’s side were back in the game. A scramble in the box following a David Cotterill freekick allowed Clayton Donaldson to get a rebounded shot on target and somehow it squeezed over the line, with help from Ryan Shotton.

Despite late efforts, Blues were unable to breach the Leeds defence once again and although Steve Evans’ side had substitute Alex Mowatt sent off for a bad challenge on Shotton in the 94th minute, the home side were unable to profit from one last attack.

Below are the ratings that I would give each player who played in Tuesday nights defeat at home…

Legzdins – 5

Caddis – 6

Morrison – 6

Shotton – 8 and my Man of the Match.

Grounds – 7

Gleeson – 4

Davis – 6

Kieftenbeld – 6

Cotterill – 6

Donaldson – 7

Lafferty – 6

Substitutes: Toral (6), Fabbrini (5).
