Birmingham City recorded back to back 3-0 wins on Saturday as they brushed aside an Ipswich Town side managed by former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy.

Goals from debutant Will Buckley and regulars Jon Toral and Maikel Kieftenbeld wrapped up a convincing win for Gary Rowett’s side in what was arguably their best home performance to date.

The Tractor Boys were reduced to 10 men just before the break when Jonathan Douglas was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Buckley.

Blues played with ambition, desire and hunger and throughout the game they showed a willingness to go on and get all three points. The performance was probably helped by the fantastic support down at St.Andrews once again.

The fans were the most animated I have seen so far this season and it seemed to give the players that extra boost, especially in the second half.

Below are the ratings that I have given each player based on how they played individually during the game.

Kuszczak: 7 – Kicking was much better from Tomasz in this game and he was unchallenged for large parts of the fixture.

Caddis: 6 – Good support for Buckley down the right. Getting back to his old self.

Morrison: 7 – Another solid performance and he gave Daryl Murphy a tough time all game.

Robinson: 7 – Strong in possession and commanded his defence brilliantly.

Grounds: 7 – Was involved in the first goal and was excellent at both going forward and in his defensive work.

Kieftenbeld: 8 – Superb display again from the Dutchman and he just keeps getting better and better.

Gleeson: 7 – Excellent range of passing and was key in the second half when the play was stretched.

Davis: 8 – Thought Davis was outstanding and he is really starting to show his worth to the side.

Buckley: 8 – Fantastic debut and looks like he could be a really good addition to the squad!

Toral: 9 – What a performance and what a goal! He is my Man of the Match and like Kieftenbeld he just keeps progressing game after game!

Donaldson: 7 – A good performance from the Jamaican international and he is just missing a goal to really boost his confidence.

Substitutes: Adams (6), Solomon-Otabor (6), Vaughan (6).
