Opinion: Player Ratings Vs. Bristol City

After yet another fantastic performance which saw Gary Rowett’s side extend their unbeaten run to 10 games in all competitions, I wanted to have my say on how I feel the players performed during Saturdays game.

Most people will pick out Clayton Donaldson as the star performer as he collected the match ball for his 31 minute first half hattrick but I feel it was more of a team effort.

Three first half goals from the main striker and a second half header from left back Jonathan Grounds made sure that Rowett’s men walked away with another three points from St.Andrews.

Below is a quick overview and rating on how I feel each player played during the 4-2 win against Steve Cotterill’s City.

Kuszczak 6- Besides the two goals he let in, he dealt with everything that came his way. Still looks uncomfortable with the ball at his feet.

Caddis 6- Looked comfortable going forward and defending when called upon. Getting back to his old self I feel.

Spector 7- One of his less stand out performances but still looked his sturdy self when the Bristol City attackers came his way.

Morrison 7- Was one of his best performances for me so far this season. He looked sharp, quick and strong. Will be disappointed to concede two goals.

Grounds 8- Very good going forward and took his goal well from the corner. Getting stronger and stronger by the game!

Kieftenbeld 6- Another strong game from the summer signing and he looks like one of the best buys!

Gleeson 7- Sat back in the game and went unnoticed at times but he still broke up play when he needed to and created chances when he was able to.

Cotterill 8- The international break sure didn’t slow his progression down. A real flow to his football at the moment and his form continues to rise up.

Toral 7- Another great performance from his and the assist for Donaldson’s second was a typical Arsenal pass. Cuts defences open without a second thought, pure class!

Gray 8- Like Cotterill, his form just continues to rise. Great game by the England Under 20 international and the cross to find Cotterill in the build up to the first goal was quality.

Donaldson 9- Took his goals very well and played out of his skin once again! Was unlucky not to get a fourth with a goal that was wrongly ruled out. Hope he continues this form into the next batch of games.
