Birmingham City lost from a winning position for the second time in a week on Tuesday night as two goals from two centre backs earned Brighton and Hove Albion a valuable three points.

In the first half, Blues took the lead through debutant Kyle Lafferty. The ball found its way over the Jacques Maghoma on the right hand side and his effort was dropped by David Stockdale and Lafferty was there to prod home from six yards out.

Just before the half hour mark and the visitors were level. A freekick from the left was curled in and Connor Goldson met it firmly and his header bounced passed Tomasz Kuszczak.

Three minutes into the second half and the Seagulls were in front. This time, a corner was whipped in and Brighton’s other centre half, Lewis Dunk got away from Michael Morrison with ease and he powered home to make it 2-1.

Down below are the ratings that I would give the players based on their individual performances during Tuesday’s home defeat.

Kuszczak – 6

Caddis – 7

Morrison – 5

Spector – 6

Grounds – 6

Kieftenbeld – 7

Gleeson – 8 and my Man of the Match.

Maghoma – 6

Toral – 5

Donaldson – 4

Lafferty – 6

Substitutes: Fabbrini (5), Davis (5), Cotterill (N/A)
