Luke Turner discusses the significance of Blues’ next fixture vs Bristol City…

Birmingham City are on the back of two successive 3-0 victories against promotion rivals Derby County and Ipswich Town.

This Saturday, they head to Ashton Gate to face a different prospect in Bristol City who are struggling down the wrong end of the table, currently occupying the final relegation place.

If Blues are to continue their excellent run and prolong their play off ambitions, then defeating the teams at the other end of the table is crucial.

Particularly this weekend, this is perhaps a more important game than Blues` last two and, in my eyes, a must win.

A win for Blues would see them climb into the play off places and heap pressure on Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday who don’t play until Tuesday night.

Both of them play at home but are facing tough sides in Reading and Burnley respectively. So, it is pivotal that Blues take advantage of their early game and get the job done.

We are full of confidence after just one defeat in nine games and the signing of Diego Fabbrini yesterday will most certainly give the team an added boost.

We must not go into the game underestimating Bristol City as they still, despite their league position, have players who on their day can unlock any defence.

They have also just signed Lee Tomlin on loan from Bournemouth which is a very good addition as he could be the difference in them staying up or being relegated.

One thing for sure is that it is all about keeping the momentum going now at this stage of the season.

We can’t be dropping points in these games against the lower sides as this will only increase the pressure when we face the better teams.

Blues have a real chance this weekend to put themselves into the driving seat and leave Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday and those above very fearful of Gary Rowett`s men.
