Opinion: Lets start again at Rotherham United

Birmingham City head to the New York Stadium on Saturday in search of starting another unbeaten run in the Sky Bet Championship.

Prior to last weekend’s defeat against play-off rivals Sheffield Wednesday, Blues had gone undefeated in six games in the league and Gary Rowett will be hoping that something can start again against Rotherham United.

There is a string of games coming up, eight to be correct, that in my eyes are all winnable games, and only one of them could prove to be a stumbling block for Rowett’s Blues.

Over the course of the next two months, Blues face a host of sides who could all crumble under the improved Birmingham City side who look set to welcome back a few familiar faces along the way.

For the rest of February, Blues travel to Queens Park Rangers and Rotherham away, and then they host Bolton Wanderers at home, with all three being very winnable games.

I would like to see us take maximum points from all three of these games if I am being totally honest and I imagine that a lot of Blues fans feel the same way.

Rotherham are currently in the bottom three and they have suffered a few crushing defeats in the past few weeks and with Clayton Donaldson returning to the score sheet last weekend, what’s to say that Blues won’t go there looking to continue their fine away form this season.

Blues will be once again backed by a fantastic away following and if they keep up their energy levels from previous away games then I am confident we can inflict more misery on the Millers, who may I add have just appointed Neil Warnock as manager until the end of the season.

After Rowett’s men travel to Rotherham, they host Bolton at home and then head to Loftus Road just a few days after. Like I previously said, wins against both of those sides are crucial for us and I think if our energy levels remain high then why can’t we win all three games that are left this month?

Moving into March, Blues start off with a tough test at home against Hull City, but after they have got that game out of the way there are another four games that we should be taking maximum points from.

If I am being completely honest with everyone, I would be very happy to see us take a point against Steve Bruce’s Tigers, but, we could quite easily pick up three points against them, like we can anyone in the league.

The Tigers might look fierce in games but they can quite easily be tamed as we have seen in recent weeks with them losing to the likes of Preston North End and promotion chasers Burnley.

After Hull visit St.Andrews, Blues face three away trips in four games, something which is likely to please quite a few fans as we all like to go on our travels to follow the Blues.

On the 8th of March, Rowett’s side travel to Blackburn Rovers and then on the following Sunday, they make the short trip to the black country to take on local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

These two games are once again very winnable and if we don’t come out of them with all three points then I am sure Rowett, the squad and many fans will be disappointed.

Less than a week later and Blues welcome Fulham. Despite having one of the deadliest strike partnerships in the division, the Cottagers are really struggling of late and they sit just four points off relegation.

With the game being at home, that advantage really should pay off and fans should start to realise that the more of us with bums on seats, the better the atmosphere is and the better the team plays.

Shortly after Fulham pay St.Andrews a visit, Blues are off on their travels again for the first game of April.

This is the last game I wanted to cover because the commencing fixtures after this one need discussing in a whole different article as they hold much more significance.

An away day to the Valley comes on the 2nd of April for Blues fans and it is another game where we need to be getting three points and they should be three easy points.

The Addicks are currently sat bottom of the table and I think they will be around there when the time comes for Blues to face them. Earlier in the season they beat us 2-0 in B9, so I think it will be time for Blues to put things right on the day.

Looking at those eight games, if I was Gary, I would be telling my players if we don’t get at least 21 points then we can kiss the play-offs goodbye!

Blues fans, do you agree that the next eight fixtures are all very winnable for us? Which game are you most looking forward to? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
