Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp mentioned that he may well dip into the loan market this transfer window in search of a high quality signing.

Well, it`s being reported today that Liverpool winger Ryan Kent is wanted by Blues on a season-long loan.

At just 20-years-old and with bags of potential, Kent is just the type of loan signing that Redknapp needs to make if we are going to challenge for promotion next season.

We’ve seen in previous years that some loan signings just don’t pay off but if Kent did make the move to St. Andrew`s, then it would be a very wise piece of business.

He enjoyed a successful campaign on-loan at Barnsley last season, scoring three goals in league 44 appearances so he’s shown that he can cut it at this level.

Blues could do with some more pace on the wing and Kent would provide just that. He can play on either flank and even has the ability to play just behind the striker.

He’s very much a player that likes to express himself and for someone so young, he’s not afraid to take control of the ball and take matters into his own hands.

Kent became a crucial part of the Barnsley team that impressed last season and it’s no surprise that fellow Championship clubs are also interested in getting him on-loan.

With chances limited at Liverpool, he’d be eager to gain even more experience and prove his worth playing first team Championship football.

Blues could do with a player of his type that can give the team that extra spark and injection of pace and skill when it matters most.

Another impressive area of his game is his maturity on the ball and for someone his age, he would be an excellent addition to a side with ambitions of getting to the Premier League.

Redknapp obviously has other targets in mind that also fit the bill of playing out wide but the signing of Kent would definitely prove to be a clever bit of business.
