Does a move from one of the biggest leagues in the world to one of the most competitive leagues in the world sound likely? To me, I have to say no!

As many outlets begin to speculate that teenage sensation Martin Odegaard could be on his way to the Championship, I thought it was only right to comment on the matter as Blues are one of the clubs who are reportedly tracking him.

Reportedly joining the chase with Blues are Bolton Wanderers, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton and Hove Albion and Ipswich Town, but for me, all of the five teams will be very wide of the mark!

Lets be totally honest, none of the clubs have the financial backing to support a player of Odegaard’s standard, with the 16 year old reportedly on nearly £70,000 a week.

If he did ever come to the championship, it would be a massive coup for whoever lands him, but unfortunately I can’t see him coming to St.Andrews.

At the moment, we are struggling to break to £15,000 mark so we would never be able to accommodate his financial requirements.

It is nice to see us being linked with a move for somebody of his quality and it would be interesting to see what he would play like just behind Clayton Donaldson but you have to ask yourself, what would be the point in bringing him in if we already have two central attacking midfielders.

Granted, Andrew Shinnie and Jon Toral are probably at half the standard that Odegaard is but they do the job for us in the league and that is what we need.

A move for Odegaard just doesn’t seem realistic and even though Blues fans are optimistic beings, I think if people start believing the rumours on this one then they are being far to whole hearted.

Personally, I would love to see the Real Madrid starlet join Birmingham City because I think it would be a great attraction for the club but lets be realistic for a minute, the move will never happen.

Yes, the youngster wants a loan move away from the Spanish giants but I honestly don’t think it will be to Blues.

For me, a move in La Liga seems more realistic but would coming to the championship be such a bad idea? Real Madrid might not think so but like I have said on several occasions, I don’t think he will be moving to the Midlands any time soon.

Blues fans, what do you make of these rumours? Are they like the Alex Iwobi rumours last week? Do you think it could possibly happen? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
