18.40pm – Birmingham City Football Club confirm they have parted company with manager Harry Redknapp.

Instant thoughts, ‘What the hell are they doing! You can’t sack Harry, you’ve just given him £20 million to spend on players!’

That is what I was thinking at the time. However, with just over a day gone now since the news that Redknapp was relieved of his duties, I have had time to come to terms with the fact that he isn’t our manager any more.

Albeit I am still a little shocked that he isn’t the manager of Blues any more, I can also understand why he was sacked.

Granted, the Blues owners acted very hastily to get rid of both Redknapp and Gary Rowett but there was and is more to both sackings than meets the eye.

Rowett didn’t get things his own way so the owners acted upon that.

Redknapp reportedly lost some of the dressing room after the defeat to Burton Albion where he publically criticised the players.

Gianfranco Zola wasn’t the answer that the club were looking for but he was given more time. Why? God only knows the answer to that question but we have moved past that stage now.

At the end of the day, Redknapp was always someone who could talk the talk but unfortunately for Blues he could never walk the walk.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss promised us entertaining, free flowing football and okay, we saw that at times but when Blues put in a second half performance like they did on Saturday, questions had to be asked and now we know they were and we know what the final answer was.

Redknapp was never able to produce the football that he wanted to at Blues and at the end of the day, he can say it until the cows come home how good he thought the squad was and how he could have taken Blues to the Premier League but he didn’t produce the goods.

Criticise me for calling him out, this is just an opinion of mine.

Would I have liked to have seen him given more time, yes of course.

Am I shocked he was sacked? No.

Redknapp in my eyes was always a short term solution for Blues and at the end of the day, he produced the goods for us last year when we needed him to but he failed miserably this season.

Thank you for the new players and the memories Harry, but it is now time for us to move on.

Remember Blues fans, actions speak louder than words.
