One To Watch: Lee Camp

I predicted that Gary Hooper would be the one to watch last week and I wish that our defence had listened because he scored two goals in quick succession to send Sheffield Wednesday home with all 3 points. Now, I chose a striker because I knew that they would get chances, they’re a good team and are strong in their attacking sense.

This week, it is a first for me, as I have chosen a goalkeeper as the one to watch this week. This is simply because, I believe that we are a better team than Rotherham and it will only take a good goalkeeping performance to deny us points. Lee Camp, therefore, is my one to watch this week.

Despite Rotherham’s lowly position in the league, I could have chosen a plethora of players. I think Broadfoot is a good organiser at the back and Clarke-Harris is a brilliant young forward who may cause us problems. But I believe that we have a squad that is capable of pinning Rotherham in and having several shots on goal.

Scoring early will be the key to victory tomorrow. If we can get an early goal, then we can continue to press and demoralise the opposition as well as keeping possession; something that we do quite well. If we don’t, then the frustration may start to kick in and this will effect that free flowing game that we have all become accustomed to under Gary Rowett.

Lee Camp has made 74 saves in 26 league appearances. This is good going considering how make shift their defence has been in recent weeks. They did manage to concede two away to bottom of the table Bolton due to some poor defending, but Camp has the ability to save shots that other goalkeepers can only watch fly into the back of their net.

Donaldson has been heavily criticised for his miss last Saturday. Now I do feel this to be slightly unfair, but I hope that his confidence is still high. If it isn’t, Camp has the ability to make a few saves and really knock the striker. Camp is a decent shot stopper and Donaldson will have to either go for power or place it into the corners if he has any chance of getting a goal. A Kieftenbeld screamer however, would whistle past Camp.

If we can finish past Camp, then we have more than a chance of winning. If he gets the bit between his teeth, he could frustrate the Blues’.
