One To Watch: Harry Arter

I don’t need to bring back the painful memories of the recent history against Bournemouth, I think we have all suffered enough. In fairness, they’re a very strong team, one of the strongest by far in the Championship last season and well worth their corn in the Premier League.

I love getting a team from the Premier League in the FA Cup, as I always feel that we will give our best and maybe get something from the game. It’s these matches that make the FA Cup so loveable! But despite this, I wasn’t all that keen on the draw. A good premier league team who have the psychological advantage and we are without Gray and at the time of writing, Vaughan.

Having said this, I think that we have nothing to lose. We go out there and just press all game. Give them no time on the ball and show them that we are not pushovers. As long as we play well, then I will be satisfied. However, one man I believe, will cause us the biggest threat come Saturday and that man is Harry Arter.

The midfielder looks like a teenage hipster with his slicked back hair and rather dainty run. But boy, when he gets going he is virtually unstoppable. He controls the game as though he is just doing it in the backyard with his mates. It is truly astonishing.

The thing that I rate most about Arter is how quickly he sees a pass. When Wilson was fit, he made the kind of runs that were so good, an average midfielder would be too slow to pick him out. However, Arter is not an average midfielder and this combination worked in their favour many times last season.

Arter is their main man who likes having the ball at his feet. He doesn’t get frustrated despite having a bad game or losing the ball, he just works hard to improve and win the ball back. He has had 4 yellow cards so he is capable of putting his foot in, but this is to be expected from a midfielder.

The thing that lets Arter down is his goalscoring. He hasn’t got a goal to his name this season despite making 11 appearances so far. For a midfielder, you would hope that he would chip in a few more. Obviously, his talent is there for all to see but I don’t think that he will be one of those players to burst into the box, like Alan Judge last week.
