One to Watch: Freddie Sears

Birmingham City play Ipswich Town FC tonight and they will have to watch out for the pace of Freddie Sears. The opposition may be happy to sit off and allow Sears to exploit the resulting space, should Blues push up.

Sears has been impressive since joining Town, being another coveted signing of Mick McCarthy’s. So far this season he has found the net 4 times in 6 games, one of the best returns in the league.

In addition to his finishing, he has also laid on 2 goals for his team. He is a player that can help his team when needed, a rare trait for a striker of his nature.

Whether Birmingham sit high or deep during this game, having a player like Sears on the pitch is proving to be a constant danger. Rowett play’s close attention to the opposition players and tactics, I’m sure this one is probably proving to be a bit of a headache.

Birmingham have not been as solid as last season, perhaps a product of their modified style of play, but we may see a tighter affair this time around. There have been games where Blues have faded out this season and I will be hoping for more of an MK Dons style performance tonight.

Freddie Sears, 25 years old, joined Ipswich in January this year. He has scored 13 goals in 20(7) league appearances.

Who else do you think could cause us problems tonight?
