I thought I was done writing about this guy.
Turns out I was wrong. Reports are surfacing from Turkey, that Galatasary are interested in bringing in Reading’s George Puscas and according to Berkshire Live, Reading boss Jose Gomes isn’t exactly against the idea of letting the Romanian go.
Now it certainly wouldn’t be the weirdest example of a player jumping ship so soon after signing, that honour will always go to Dietmar Hamman when he moved from Liverpool to Bolton to Manchester City in the space of 24 hours, so let’s not act like it isn’t in the realms of possibility.
The Blues were interested in Puscas during the summer, and it’s fair to say that there have been a few Birmingham fans who were disappointed that he didn’t end up signing for them in the end based on his start for Reading.
However, should the Blues be back in the market for him?
This is certainly a tricky situation when it comes to whether or not we should be going after him. Whilst I have said in the past that the Blues could do with some additional help up front, the emergence of Jude Bellingham has made me think that maybe he can be the backup centre-forward that we need.
At the same time though, I have been saying that Bellingham needs to be brought along slowly, so if Lukas Jutkiewicz does go down for an extended period of time, would I rather a more senior player lead the line for a month or two? Yes I would. Nothing against Bellingham, but I’d just rather have someone with a little bit more experience in first-team football.
For me this all depends on the price. If Reading begin asking for anywhere near the £7.5m reported fee that he signed for them in the summer, then it’s a hard pass from me. However if the club can do something better, perhaps a loan deal with a view to buy, then I think it’s an avenue worth exploring.
What do you think? Do you think that the club should go after George Puscas again? Or do you think that the club would be better off looking elsewhere?
