Former Blues manager Alex McLeish has been sacked from Egyptian club Zamalek after just 65 days in charge.

The 57 year-old Scot was dismissed after a poor run of results leaves Zamalek eight points behind leaders Al Ahly, who have a game in hand, with ten matches of the season remaining.

Prior to his short stint in Egypt, McLeish, known as Big Eck, managed Belgian side Genk. His time in Belgium lasted just one season after he departed the club by mutual consent.

McLeish led Blues to their first major trophy success in 48 years after winning the Carling Cup in 2011. However, things turned sour after Blues were relegated back to the Championship just weeks after lifting the cup at Wembley and McLeish departed to arch rivals Aston Villa.

The former Scotland head coach has expressed his interest in a return to management in Britain.
