The Football Association have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game between Newcastle United and Birmingham City this Wednesday.

Newcastle United host Birmingham City on Wednesday January 18 for the FA Cup third round replay at St James’ Park and the match carries a 7.45pm kick off.

Referee: Lee Probert
Linesmen: Nick Hopton and James Bell
Fourth Official: Andy Davies

Match Day referee Probert is back this year having taken charge of 19 games in the 2014/15 season. In those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he handed out a total of 63 yellow cards and five red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa with a total of six yellows being shown, along with one red. He showed seven yellows in the Accrington Stanley v Wycombe Wanderers game in December.

He has officiated 20 games in 2016/17 with a return of 35 yellow cards and one red card.

Let`s hope it`s not another repeat and more of the players edge closer to automatic bans.
