Garry O`Connor decided to return to Oakwell for another loan stint with Barnsley as he was not feeling quite right.
Both Barnsley and Notts County were in for O`Connor, but the player enjoyed his last stint with the Tykes.
Manager Alex McLeish told the Mail: “He asked if he could go out on loan. I said ‘fine`.
“To be fair to the big man, he came in for the Blackpool game and did well. I was hoping he would move forward from there.
But he said after the Brentford Carling Cup tie he needed more time.”
O`Connor didn`t make the squad for the game with Aston Villa.
McLeish added: “We just feel that he`s a bit rusty, and he`s not going to get in the first team regularly at the moment, and he`s looking for first-team football.
“Cameron Jerome coming back from injury has obviously made it more difficult for Garry as well.”
