Not Good Enough – 60% Of Birmingham Fans Polled Hope Monk Decides Against Move For Northern Irishman

|

The club are “set to sign” Lee Camp from Cardiff City, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Northern Ireland international would certainly not be my first choice to provide competition for Connal Trueman but there are a limited number of options available to Garry Monk in terms of free agents and loan signings.

When we polled fans about the club’sĀ interest in the 33-year-old, the majority were opposed to the move going ahead:

Personally, I’m hoping that Camp is just a bench-warmer if he comes in. He conceded 22 goals in just 12 games for Sunderland whilst on loan at the Black Cats last season. He hasn’t been a regular first-team player since the first half the 2016/17 season when he was playing for Rotherham.

After Trueman’s decent competitive debut against Norwich City, I’m sure most fans are hoping that Monk sticks by the 22-year-old if there is no way back for either David Stockdale or Tomasz Kuszczak. Neither player looks likely to leave permanently before tomorrow’s deadline, although a loan departure before the end of the month cannot be ruled out.
