Norwich have only imposed final warnings to three fans after finding them culpable for homophobic abuse during Norwich’s 2-2 draw with Birmingham.

The club have found that it is only necessary to warn these fans and we can only guess that this will mean a possible ban for them following any reports of further abuse.

Norwich became aware of reports of homophobic abuse after other home supports alerted the club to the actions of some fans. The club statement does not indicate if this was directed at other supporters or towards the players on the field.

If there are any homosexual persons that sit anywhere near these people we can only assume that their viewing comfort of the game is to be reduced as these people will be permitted to remain at the ground. That or they may feel inclined to move seat, which is totally unfair.

We wonder if a more severe punishment would have been imposed for racial abuse? It’s hard to believe that no game bans were imposed as a result of this behavior.

Abusing someone for something that is inherently who they are is morally reprehensible and should be punished further.
