Former Birmingham City academy product Jordon Mutch could be on his way to Reading in January.

It is understood that Crystal Palace are willing to let the 25 year-old leave Selhurst Park and Blues were a possible suitor. But even with the investment promised from the new owners, any deal was thought to be too high brow for Blues manager Gary Rowett.

Reading manager Jaap Stam is an admirer of the midfielder and is eyeing up a potential deal which won’t come cheap.

Mutch made 36 first team appearances at St. Andrews after working his way through the Wast Hills academy. He was eventually sold as part of a push to raise vital funds during Blues’ recent financial difficulties.
