No Bid From Ipswich for Donaldson

Contrary to reports, Ipswich Town have not made a bid for Blues striker Clayton Donaldson, according to the Ipswich Star. Other reports suggest the Tractor Boys have made an offer worth up to £2 million for the striker which is not the case.

Donaldson has been the subject of strong interest recently from Reading and Leeds United, but only Reading have tabled a firm offer.

But Blues fans need not worry – a club source tells me that they will NOT be selling the player who was last season`s top goal scorer and won the ‘player of the season` accolade.

To add to that, the 31 year-old has not signalled intent to leave St. Andrew`s this summer. After scoring 17 goals last term, The Don is a prime figure in Blues` squad and manager Gary Rowett is adamant the player is staying put.

Ipswich have enquired about the former Brentford man, but whether they follow that up with an actual bid is still unclear.

Blues have issued a ‘hands-off` warning but Ipswich may try and tempt the club into cashing in. But Town boss Mick McCarthy does not have a massive transfer kitty available and is thought to be weighing up options elsewhere.
