New Signing N’Gotty Speaks

Bruno N’Gotty has given his first interview following his move from Bolton to Blues and he believes he still has plenty to offer.

N’Gotty has joined on an initial year long contract, and he’s moved quickly to quash comments that at 35 he no longer has the pace or durability to impress.

‘I’m 35 but when I say my age a lot of people think I look a lot younger. I’ve always looked after my body. I don’t drink or have late nights. I’m very professional and focused on diet, training and everything.

‘For me the football is 10 or 15 years and after you can do the other things. Maybe I can play for two more years.

‘I talked with Steve and he said he needed an experienced player to work with the young players, he has three or four young defenders. That will be a role for me, to talk to them and help them.

‘I’m sure he (big Sam) said good things about me, I played five years for Bolton. I played well and every year I won things – man of the match, player of the season. There was no problem between him and me.’

N’Gotty has never been considered a soft player, yet he readily admits life in the championship will be different than he is used to.

‘It will be different. The Premier League has very good strikers. Now, in the Championship, it will be hard because it’s less tactical and more physical, the striker fights for 90 minutes.

‘It is the challenge. I like to play in England, Plus Birmingham is a big city, and the club has a good stadium and a lot of good fans. They were unlucky to go down last year, but I think they have a very good coach who wants to get promotion straightaway.
