New pitch for a new season

Birmingham will be stepping out to Premier League football at St Andrews next season on a new pitch.

The club are ready to spend £500,000 on having the new playing surface in situ for the start of the 2009/10 season.

Manager Alex McLeish said: ‘There is no doubt the pitch needed to improve. It’s part of the infrastructure so this is great investment by the club.’
