Clayton Donaldson was released by Sheffield United following a year at Bramall Lane. The Blades did not take up their option to keep him for a further year.
At 34 years of age, the striker is coming to the end of his career, and will likely find a club in a lower division.
However, fans on Twitter have been debating whether it would be a good idea for the Blues to take him back on a short-term deal.
Love Clayts but it’s time to move on

No, we need to move forwards.

Verdict:
Clayton had three good years with us, but I think his time has passed. Certainly, he isn’t finished in the professional game yet. He played 33 times for Sheffield United this season, scoring five goals, but I don’t see Garry Monk opting to re-sign him.
For sure, the club will be seeking to strengthen up front, but our main priority should be a poacher. To get further up this league next season, we need somebody who can hit close to 20 goals, and Donaldson would not be the answer.
