‘Monk needs to eat a bit of humble pie’ – Many Birmingham Fans Are Backing Star For First Team Recall

|

Connal Trueman had a pretty difficult time of it at the Riverside stadium. Although he could do nothing about Britt Assombalonga’s goal, there were a couple of occasions where he lost the battle in the air.

Facing a Tony Pulis side is always a tough challenge for a keeper, and it proved to be a hard game for the 22-year-old who was playing just his second game at this level.

When asked on Twitter whether he’d consider a recall if Garry Monk asked him to return, David Stockdale said he’d be back in a heartbeat, and fans were obviously hoping the manager does have a chat with our no.13:

Some fans think he is showing a professional attitude:

Trueman is a young keeper and it’s very easy to have a kneejerk reaction to the game on Saturday. Two games is hardly enough time to judge anyone’s performances.

However, it seems like Monk will offer Lee Camp a chance to prove himself instead. The former Cardiff keeper will be in the starting line up for the Carabao Cup game against Reading tomorrow, while it seems a starting place is up for grabs for the match against Swansea on Friday night.
