Monday Musings; Robbo’s pace, Katie Price & London Buses

Just another manic Monday! Kidderminster away was anything but manic. I have witnessed Golf played at a higher tempo than this drab friendly. Although, the positives were there if you searched long and hard…

Gary Rowett called for ‘more tempo` to Blues` play. Is that why he picked two Usain Bolt-like centre halves in Paul Robinson and Jonathan Spector? In fact, Robbo`s movement is so lightning quick, it`s invisible to the naked eye. I know I take the mick, but the two actually did well in the first half, albeit against a fifth tier side with a Kings of Leon wannabee at right-back.

Reece Brown did well alongside Dave Dave (David Davis) although when he is challenged, he`s as vulnerable as a piece of paper in a gale force wind. On the ball though, his distribution remains almost picturesque.

Lee Novak, for all his graft, desire and decent link-up play, lacks a decisive finish. In the first half, Blues could have (probably would have) been three up but for Novak`s tendency to smash his one-on-one`s at the ‘keepers Adam`s Apple.

Speaking of Adam, Legzdins did very well in the sticks and is steaking his claim to be first choice. One or two very good saves in a relatively untroubled afternoon, couple with Tomasz Kuszczak`s balls-up to gift the hosts the opening goal, must give our Gary some food for thought.

Rostyn (or Royston as he was called on the Kiddy team sheet) Griffiths did himself the world of good with another decent display. Putting himself about more than Katie Price is one thing, but having a sprinkle of ability (unlike Katie Price) is another thing. I`d guess Rowett is keen to make him a permanent fixture.

Shane Lowry was the other trialist. A bit of an anti-climax on the Klaas Jan Huntelaar rumours that greeted the ‘mystery trialist` news on Friday. A number of Blues fans asked me ‘who is Shane Lowry?` to which I replied ‘a fat bloke who used to play for Villa and Millwall`. Despite carrying a few extra pounds, Lowry did ok on the whole. His header for the goal was a rocket!

A quick note to the Blues fans who climbed over the advertising hoardings and to the one who ran on the pitch whilst fighting a losing battle to pull his jeans up? I hope you enjoyed your day out in Costa-del-Kidderminster. Now please may you return to whichever home it was that let you out for the day? Many thanks.

Now, the end of last week, we were jubilant about the story linking Diego Fabbrini with a loan switch to Blues. While I am confident this is true, I also stress that waiting for it to happen may be like waiting for a London bus?. You wait forever for one, and two arrive in fairly quick succession? Make of that what you will (read between the lines).

Anyway, have a good week. I will think of you all when I`m lying in the 30 degree heat of Bulgaria next week.

As always, Keep Right On!
