Karl Robinson confirmed yesterday that MK Dons and himself had said no when Birmingham made an approach for him to take over at St Andrews.

Birmingham are without a manager after sacking Lee Clark on Monday following another disappointing home defeat. With mixed emotions from the fans. The majority agreed a change was needed whilst many of the fans retained a personal liking Clark.

Robinson confirmed after his sides game with Fleetwood Town that there had been an approach but insisted he wasn’t going to be involving himself in the approach.

Based on this target it would seem Birmingham are after targets with little or no Championship experience and this may well be down to budget problems.

It does however also show that Blues aren’t limiting themselves to people who are not currently already within employment, so there is funds being made available to pay compensation to a club for their manager.

With MK Dons rejecting an approach for their manager and Robinson being happy to say it suggests that Birmingham is not going to be seen as an opportunity to a lot of managers already with a job.

Additionally, I’m not so sure looking to people who would be learning on the job is a good idea for Birmingham. Whilst that may work, Blues aren’t in a position to take a chance on someone.

Birmingham need a safe pair of hands, someone who can sure up the defense and finally get the players to cut out the individual mistakes that are costing us so dearly.

What do you think about who should be the next Birmingham City manager?
