Midweek Musings: The Net, Passing Wind and Randy Lerner

Can someone please show the Blues players where the damn net is? For all the decent stuff we produce in the defensive third and the middle third, in the final third we`re like a clapped out car with a dodgy satnav.

I`ll put on record my admiration for Jon Toral before I write the next line, he has been a revelation this season. But his miss at the Molineux was criminal. Heather Mills would have scored that with her fake leg.

Clayton Donaldson was just as guilty. For all the hustling (sorry, I mean hustle and bustle) he does, the sweating he does, the running through a brick wall he does and the falling over he does, he isn`t a natural goalscorer.

And Jacques Maghoma? he rounded the ‘keeper and still didn`t shoot. It was almost as bad as his miss at Villa Park which would have been the much deserved equaliser. The thing with Maghoma is, he is unpredictable even to himself. If he had five defenders to turn and swivel, he would have buried his chance at Wolves.

Moving on to a more positive note now, David Davis. His breaking up of play was top notch and he will be an integral part of the squad during the end of season run-in. Not bad for someone who can`t pass wind. But if we`re being honest, Dave Dave is just the type of player Blues have lacked recently – someone who can run without tripping over his own legs. And he is a dead cert to make me money (bet on him to be booked).

Back to the negatives? what was the Randy Lerner stuff about? Masks? A flag? It is borderline obsession. It was embarrassing and made Blues look like proper small-time charlies. Rather than getting behind our boys who are unexpectedly and miraculously in a race for the play-offs, we decide to prioritise our arch rivals` American owner. Had the shoe been on the other foot, we`d be banging on the ‘obsessed` drum. Disagree? You`re deluded.
