According to online reports coming from the Daily Mail, Birmingham City are set to do battle with local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, as well as two other Championship clubs, for MK Dons defender Kyle McFadzean.

The 29-year-old defender is the latest player to reportedly interest Blues boss Gary Rowett and after the club announced their first signing of the summer in the form of Robert Tesche, it looks like things are set to go up a gear in the recruitment zone at the club.

The centre half made 41 appearances for the Dons during their first season back in the Championship, but he was unable to prevent them from being relegated and now the 6ft 1′ brick wall has expressed his desire to stay in the second tier of English football.

Earlier this week, it is believed that McFadzean handed in a written transfer request to the League One side and he now looks destined to return to the Championship.

However, with Blues reportedly close to signing Derby County defender Ryan Shotton, it looks increasingly unlikely that they would make a move for the former Crawley Town man.

It is believed that Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City are the other two Championship clubs who are reportedly interested in the services of the defender and it is likely that there will be a three horse race for his signature.
