Emilio Nsue has agreed personal terms with Birmingham City and is expected to put pen-to-paper on a three-and-a-half year contract today. The Middlesbrough defender has been in talks with Blues over the past few days and it is expected that the transfer will be completed imminently.

The 27-year-old has made 72 appearances for Boro since joining from Mallorca. Ironically, his debut for the Teesiders came against Blues in August 2014, a game which Middlesbrough won 2-0.

Nsue is a versatile player – primarily a right back who has also played out wide and even had a brief stint as a striker for Mallorca. He played 40 games for Middlesbrough last season as they were promoted to the Premier League under Aitor Karanka, but has since struggled to force his way into the team as a regular starter.

When the formalities have been completed later today or tomorrow, Nsue will officially be unveiled as a Birmingham City player.

  • Never believe these things until we get the official news from the club but this will be a good signing for us. Lets hope the other one signs as well. This would give us more creativity and more supply to the strikers without weakening the defence.

  • Appears a good signing. Goodness knows we need two decent backs who can move quickly upfield. My concern is that this likeable Zola can get a win-any old way. He obviously wants to succeed at Blues and his desire to get us playing football is refreshing.Just a win will do it and providing Gardner,Nsue and possibly a new striker start against Blackburn then it may come on Saturday. Watching the Newcastle replay,it was painful to see MK,Grounds and the out of position VSO coupled with the elderly slow Robinson tore apart. Zola must replace 70% of the team-just hope he gets the chance before he is replaced.
