‘Meh. Pointless’: Lots of Birmingham fans underwhelmed as club announces latest signing

|

Whilst people may not expect The Spanish Inquisition, I think people may expect most Blues signings to be Spanish from now on.

That was the trend this summer, and the trend continued today as Birmingham announced the signing of Miguel Fernandez on a six-month contract. According to BCFC.com:

“The Spanish midfielder or forward has been drafted in to develop with the Club’s Under-23s. Fernandez, 19, came through the ranks at UE Cornella in Spain and spent a trial period with Blues last season.”

Whilst it was probably too much to expect there to be fans kart-wheeling down the street at this signing, given that he’s going straight into the U23s instead of the first team, it looks as if fans weren’t too bothered about his playing abilities when the deal was announced. In fact, they seemed to be more interested in his body than anything else.

Although, there does for some reason seem to be this growing desire, I have no idea how it started, to bring Daniel Sturridge to the club. Even though there’s nothing concrete to suggest that the 29-year-old is anywhere close to joining the Blues, that didn’t stop these fans chirping in suggesting that deal could be done in the near future.
