Birmingham forward Gary McSheffrey knows that his future could well be up at Birmingham City accepts that he has little chance these days of breaking into the first team again.

The former Coventry star looks like being moved on from St Andrews to somewhere where he can play first team football.

‘I’ve never really been told what’s going on. There’s been speculation but it’s never come from me,’ he said.

‘I suppose as far as my future at Birmingham is concerned, I’d say that I don’t have one.

‘During the last transfer window, the manager made it clear that he was willing to offload me so in that sense I’ve felt that I’m not wanted here.

‘There have been times when I’ve felt that I should been on the pitch in front of certain other players and feel that I should have had more starts than I have done. That shows that I’m not in their plans.

‘The manager sat me down and said, ‘we’re going to listen to offers for you but we haven’t got a problem with each other so while you’re here I will use you when I need to’.

‘So at least I haven’t been frozen out, I’ve been on the bench every week and started a couple of games.

‘Everything is fine with me and the manager. He says ‘hello’ to me in the morning and we’ve been professional about things.

‘He knows that my attitude has been fine and that I don’t cause trouble.

‘I just get on with my job. I get on with the lads and am part of the banter so in that sense I’m very much part of the squad.’
